Understanding the Family and Medical Leave Act with The Lovitz Law Firm

As Philadelphia residents, we all know how important it is to have job security and support during times of personal or family medical emergencies. That's where the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) comes in. At The Lovitz Law Firm, we are dedicated to helping Pennsylvania residents understand their rights under this crucial federal law and provide assistance with employment law matters.

The Family and Medical Leave Act was enacted in 1993 to provide employees with job-protected leave for certain family and medical reasons. Under FMLA, eligible employees are entitled to up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave per year for specific situations such as caring for a newborn or adopted child, caring for a seriously ill family member, or dealing with a serious health condition themselves.

It's important to note that not all employers are covered by FMLA. To be eligible, an employee must work for a covered employer, have worked for the employer for at least 12 months, have worked at least 1,250 hours during the previous 12 months, and work at a location where the employer has at least 50 employees within a 75-mile radius.

At The Lovitz Law Firm, we understand that navigating the complexities of employment law can be overwhelming. Our team of experienced attorneys is here to help Philadelphia residents understand their rights under FMLA and ensure that they receive the benefits they are entitled to. Whether you need assistance filing a claim or appealing a denial of FMLA leave, we are here to guide you through the process.

In addition to FMLA, our firm also provides legal services related to other employment law matters such as discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and more. We believe that everyone deserves fair treatment in the workplace and will fight tirelessly on behalf of our clients to ensure that their rights are protected.

Navigating the complexities of employment law can be daunting, especially when dealing with issues related to the Family and Medical Leave Act. That's why The Lovitz Law Firm is here to assist Philadelphia residents in understanding their rights under this crucial federal law and providing guidance through any employment law matter they may face.
